Contemplating on sending this back. Its mostly salads and I noticed a lot of radish in them. I may keep it to gift but I don't know. I like his concept of keeping things simple though so maybe I will try a couple before I send it back. I wasn't impressed with the Chew Cookbook either but I figured his would be different.

I purchased this cookbook after enjoying Michael Symon's "5 in 5" segments on "The Chew" for a while now. I love the "5 in 5" concept, and thought I'd like the seasonal angle of this book, but I'm finding it's not my fave. With the focus primarily on what's fresh in each season, it seems there are more sides or fruit/veggie dishes than what I consider main courses. That makes sense, right? I mean beef, poultry, and pork are pretty much always in season; so they are not the stars here. I love a good fruit/veggie option, but I was looking for more main course ideas (or what would pass for a main course in our home). I've found some recipes I like in the book, and will get around to trying more of the fruit/veggie options; but I prefer Michael's other "5 in 5" book. I would recommend this book for folks who like less meat in their diet and/or who enjoy cooking what's in season. I like this one, but don't love it.

This book has some interesting information and a few recipes that I like very much- all made with fresh ingredients- and never more than 5. Most can be cooked in under 30 minutes which is a big deal in my house. There are some pictures. I wish there were more. I have the Kindle version, and somehow, it just seems there are not as many pictures as in the print version. It might be my imagination, but it seems that way. But if you are into wholesome and whole eating- this is a good book to use.

I was looking for a cookbook that I could easily throw a few ingredients together for a quick dinner. Yes, this does that. But, most of the things needed in this book aren't in my kitchen to easily throw together. Maybe Michael Symon has these things, i.e. arugula, great northern beans, fresno chiles, sea scallops, etc., but I don't. Very disappointed.

Prepared my first recipe from this book and we loved it! I went to the Fall section and prepared the Sirloin with Swiss Chard and Blue Cheese. The end result was very pretty on the plate; the flavors were awesome; and the total amount of time it took to prepare was less than 30 minutes.

Michael Symon cooking 5 in 5 recipes on the chew is always exiting .He is trying to proof that itdoesn't take to long to cook good homemade food . Maybe for the inexperienced cook it could take20 minutes , still less time than ordering pizza or picking up food . I like that the book is written inseasonal chapters to make use of the freshes produce available . There is a description with eachrecipe and a full page picture that looks good enough to eat . Michael loves to cook and it showsthat he wants every one else to enjoy food too .I don't quiet understand the holiday section , mustbe 4. of July and labor day . Don't look for dessert , get the Austrian Desserts and Pastries book .

We are BIG fans of the Chew and absolutely enjoy watching Michael Symon!!! When he came out with this cookbook, we had to have it. Even though he's an Iron Chef, he can demonstrate how easy it is to cook meals for the everyday Mom/Dad or single person. Can't wait to start cooking!

Hands down some of the best recipes I've ever made: Beef with capers and olives, pork with onions and sprouts sandwiches. The glazed carrots and broccoli gratin are requested at every thanksgiving and Christmas dinner I cook. In Symon We Trust!

This is my second 5 in 5 from Michael. Recipes are simple, ingredients are not that hard to find, and best of all delicious and different. I get bored easy so always looking for new ideas, but quick and simple is fabulous.
